On my OneASEAN internship experience, I was placed with a regional non-profit organisation working on youth development across Southeast Asia. I had the opportunity to collaborate with team members from different ASEAN countries while contributing to real projects. Beyond the professional exposure, I particularly enjoyed the informal learning moments — shared meals, discussions, and reflections with fellow interns from diverse backgrounds. It was eye-opening to see how similar challenges are approached differently across the region. Through this experience, I also learnt how valuable regional networks can be for young people. I am certain that without OneASEAN, I would not have explored opportunities beyond my home country. This internship experience has strengthened my confidence and shaped how I now see my future career in the ASEAN region.

During my OneASEAN exchange programme, I spent several weeks engaging in community-based projects while learning alongside youths from across Southeast Asia. In addition to exploring a new country, I valued the friendships formed through group activities, shared accommodation, and cultural exchanges. It was inspiring to learn how youths from different backgrounds share similar aspirations despite cultural differences. I also gained a better understanding of regional cooperation and the importance of youth participation in ASEAN initiatives. Before this experience, I never imagined myself taking part in a regional exchange. Now, I am more open to cross-border opportunities and feel better prepared to work in multicultural environments in the future.

On my DiscoverEU trip, I travelled to Austria, Slovakia, Italy and Switzerland, partly to visit friends and partly to explore the countries myself. In addition to all the landscapes and cities, I particularly enjoyed the day trips and evenings with new friends from the youth hostels and shared flats. It’s super interesting and fun to talk, cook and visit cities with people of the same age from all over the world. I also learnt what great opportunities Interrail offers us. I don’t know if I would ever have bought an Interrail ticket without DiscoverEU. Now I know that this Interrail journey was definitely not my last. The feeling of travelling by train alone, as a couple or in a small group through different countries is great.
